“I wanted to thank you for putting together an excellent itinerary for our “Back to SA” trip that allowed for the perfect combination of relaxation and nostalgia on Bronwyn and my part and served as a brilliant introduction to SA for Danielle and Ben.
The accommodations you picked out for us were perfect – simply outstanding as regards location, comfort, staff, etc.
I also wanted to call out and thank you for the little extra’s at each venue that made each destination extra special – the Hamper at Pineapple, rusks and biscuits at Montusi, evening nightcaps and cookies at 54 on bath and personalized water bottles at Sediba.
As you know, we did a lot of self driving and got to see much of the country that we wanted to show the kids and your arrangements with the Europcar Toyota Fortuner were perfect – great car and seamless pick up and drop off. Pineapple House and Sediba Rock Lodge were outstanding – the staff in particular were really first class with Roy at Pineapple House making us feel very much at home as did Nadia, Martin and (above all) Moyo at Sediba. Montusi was spectacular as regards location and view onto the Drakensberg Amphitheatre and we actually wished we could have extended our stay by a day or two to enjoy the location and do a bit more hiking. 54 on Bath located in the center of Clarens was excellent and the drive from Montusi past the Sterkfontein Dam and through the Golden Gate National Park remains one of the most scenic ones anywhere in the world. 54 on Bath was perfectly situated to allow us to visit Bronwyn’s mother and Aunt and being attached to the Rosebank Mall was tremendous.
We covered so much ground and saw so much so its hard to call out highlights but a couple of very special moments were my early morning runs along the Seapoint Promenade, taking the kids up Table Mountain, to Cape Point and Hermanus. Visiting the Spionkop Battlefield (where Bronwyn and I got engaged back in July of 1996 – overlooking the Spionkop Dam), Bronwyn and Danielle horse-riding in the berg and spotting a herd of Eland, exploring the shops in Clarens, having lunch at Higher Ground, the St. Stithians Old Boy’s Association Club in JHB and, of course, the spectacular wildlife at Sediba on Welgevonden. I have attached a few photos.
Needless to say but we are already thinking about when we can go back – thank you.”
