An Ideal Two-Week Journey to South Africa
South Africa is a country of contrasts – from the vibrant cities to vast open savannahs, its charm lies in its diversity. If you’ve ever dreamed of spending two weeks in the most remarkable destination, you’re in for an adventure that goes beyond the ordinary.
Here’s the ideal itinerary for a journey that captures the essence of South Africa, with unforgettable wildlife encounters, luxury stays, and cultural indulgence.
Days 1-3: Cape Town – Where the Journey Begins
We always say before a safari; ‘wash off a bit of jet lag in a big city’ and as of now, there are direct flights daily from Washington DC directly to Cape Town International.
So start the adventure in the stunning city of Cape Town, a place where natural beauty merges with urban sophistication. Nestled in a bowl between Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Town offers endless exploration.
Hike to the top of Table Mountain for breath-taking panoramic views or take a leisurely cable car ride to experience it without the sweat.
Stroll through the vibrant streets of Bo-Kaap and discover the city’s rich cultural tapestry.
EAT through Bo Kaap exploring 600 years of history by cuisine
Walk the city with our guides and see the Heritage homes and building and learn about the local South Africans, the Malay peoples, the Cape Dutch, the British and all that have built this city over hundreds of years with a true historian
Visit some of the world’s most incredibly talented artists and art museums – contemporary and classic
Stand up paddle / Surf / Kayak / Swim in the rich oceans of the Cape
Visit the Zeitz Mocca Museum – African Art Curated and the only one of its kind.
We love to put our guests at Ellerman House, a luxurious retreat perched above the Atlantic filled with one of the most prolific art collections in Africa. Here, you’ll experience curated art tours that provide a glimpse into South Africa’s artistic heritage, all while enjoying panoramic ocean views from your private terrace.
OR for something a bit more low key – we love Pineapple House and Kensington Place… if you are feeling like a little luxe… you can’t beat The Silo!
Days 4-6: The Wine Lands – A Toast to Life
Next, we like to head to the picturesque Cape Winelands, where sprawling vineyards and charming estates await… This place knocks the socks of Nappa and any Aussie wine escape experience and views – trust us!
We love Leeu Estate in Franschhoek, which is conveniently walkable to the high street, along with its serene and exclusive property just outside of town. For refined elegance, La Cle is also located in the heart of Franschhoek. Mont D’Or offers a more laid-back atmosphere but still has a fantastic vibe. And, of course, there’s the unbeatable La Residence, Danni’s favorite. This pinnacle of stylish stays in the winelands is favored by Elton John and many others. It’s a perfect pairing with The Silo, as they belong to the same group, and we have access to exclusive rates available only through agents!
Don’t miss:
A cycle through the vineyards, wine tasting with a picnic mid vineyard.
Incredible dining experiences, we have a curated a best restaurant list just for you.
WINE WINE WINE – immerse yourself in the region’s finest wines and small vineyards. We have access to some that the public don’t.. let us know what you like!
Enjoy horseback riding through the vineyards too – an activity that truly brings you closer to the natural beauty of the area.
Stay and experience farm to table at its freshest or olive oil and chocolate tastings…
Days 7-10: Safari Time – Into the Wild
The ULTIMATE South African experience – an unforgettable safari. The anchor to the trips we put together to this amazing country.
So many options, so many to choose from… Sabi Sands Game Reserve is one of the top wildlife destinations in the world. We love the renowned Londolozi, known for its luxurious lodges and exceptional game drives. There are 4 tiers of accommodation here so don’t be afraid of the price… The leopards here are the most famous in SA.
For a more low key and affordable experience, Notten’s Bush Camp offers a charming, family-run atmosphere with an old-world safari feel (still GREAT wildlife)
If you’re seeking ultimate luxury, opt for Royal Malewane from The Royal Portfolio collection (Silo and The Residence). It’s an exclusive experience, offering personalised service, exquisite dining, and unforgettable wildlife encounters.
For a more villa style family vibe, we love Mhondoro Safari Lodge & Villa, you can enjoy private game drives and evening stargazing from your private space – private chef, guide it’s all about you.
Days 11-12: Grootbos Private Nature Reserve – A property on the coast like no other.
After the safari, we love to unwind at Grootbos Private Nature Reserve, a hidden gem along the coast where the fynbos meet the ocean.
This eco-luxury lodge is dedicated to conservation, and you’ll be treated to spectacular views, nature walks, and even a chance to spot whales in season. This coastal retreat offers a peaceful respite and a different perspective on South Africa’s natural beauty. The food is all farm to table, sustainable and first class. This is Danni’s most favourite coastal South African property and sometimes hard to describe but our guests have left FLABBERGASTED with this unusual and gorgeous place of peace and harmony.
Days 13-14: More of the Western Cape – Unwind in Luxury Whales and more!
Finish your two-week adventure with a stay at the iconic The Marine in Hermanus, offering world-class service, ocean views, and the perfect place to relax after an action-packed safari. Again we can stick with the Royal Portfolio and stay at the gracious and elegant Birkenhead house… Or, if you’re keen on a final safari, we circle our guests back to Royal Madikwe and offer a secluded and luxurious end to your journey.
