Travelled in September 2022
We have returned from Africa and we can’t thank you and your team enough for the grand experience and seamless execution. Your choices of locations and lodges could not have been better.
The hotel in Joburg was lovely and our visit to Soweto and the museum there was powerful. It was nice to start in Hwange at Somalisa, considering it is the first of ABC’s many lodges and where Fungai used to run the show.
Our guide there was Dickson and he is very experienced, knowledgeable and generally fun to be around. We are novices in the bush and really did not know what to expect, but I kid you not, in the first 30 minutes of our first game drive we came across a pride of lions, watched a cheetah mother and her growing cub at close range drinking water, and then located and watched a leopard lounging peacefully in a tree. And as you know, there can’t be more elephants anywhere in the world. What a start! From there we enjoyed our time at the Victoria Falls River lodge where we pampered ourselves with sunset and sunrise cruises and mid-day massages. The highlight was probably the Livingston talk you arranged for us.
I was genuinely moved by the topic and the unbelievable exploits and accomplishments of all the men and women involved. What a story of exploration, determination, and effecting political change!
Then it was off to Botswana and we were not disappointed there either. The rustic and authentic nature of the Linyanti Camp was very special. We actually grew fond of our bucket showers and our guide Maxell had a real talent for tracking the lions. Our host was fantastic there as well. We finished off with a touch of luxury at Leadwood. Aubrey was our guide and the game viewing there was also unbelievable with us following the wild dogs on a hunt in our lone truck.
The landscape of the Okavango Delta is unparalleled. What a time.
We thank especially Fungai and Danni for arranging everything and making it all so easy (including VIP custom clearance which is worth every penny!).
