Travelled in October 2023 |I just returned from my third trip with Sikelei (two with my sister and one with my husband) and my husband and I are taking another trip next May. I can’t imagine traveling to Africa with any other company.

Karen planned all four trips for us and each one was spectacular. In October my sister and I took a bucket list trip and went to Uganda and Rwanda to see mountain gorillas. The only thing I told Karen was that we wanted to see gorillas – from that basic wish she designed an absolutely spectacular trip for us. In addition to the three gorilla treks, we tracked rhinos on foot and chimps in Kibale. The lodges were beautiful in great locations and the staff at each lodge superb. The food was so good and plentiful we had to ask the chefs to cut back on the portions! Our guide, Baker, in Uganda and Rwanda was amazing – so knowledgeable and funny with an amazing ability to find wonderful wildlife.

Every aspect of the trip was planned down to the smallest detail. The escorts who met us at the gate were waiting for us and quickly got us through immigration In Uganda and South Africa (no small task when the electronic immigration system is down at the Johannesburg airport).

After our spectacular stay in Uganda and Rwanda, we went to Botswana for five days. Karen integrated that extension into our main trip seamlessly – hotels in Johannesburg to rest for a couple of days and then the flights back and forth to Maun. The lodge in Botswana was wonderful and we had amazing wildlife viewing (lots of elephants, a pride of lions dining on a zebra, a leopard, and wild dogs right outside our tent). It is difficult to find enough superlatives to describe Sikelei and Karen because they are just that good. I recommend them to all my friends when they mention going to Africa. My sister and I are already talking about the next trip Karen will plan for us.
