The year started in the vibrant city of Cape Town, at the heart of the Cape Town Art Fair. Our guests stayed at the Silo and we visited the homes and studios of some of South Africa’s most famous artists, a real privilege!As I wandered through galleries filled with contemporary African art, I was struck by the powerful stories each piece told – a testament to the continent’s rich history and dynamic future. The lively atmosphere and the artists’ passion for their work were infectious, inspiring a deeper appreciation for African art.
India: A Symphony of Senses
22-Day Exploration
India was a 22-day whirlwind of colours, sounds, and flavours. Still one of my most celebrated continents. From the palaces of Rajasthan to the sacred Ganges in Varanasi, each day brought new adventures. In Jaipur, the intricate architecture took my breath away, while the bustling markets of Mumbai were a feast for the senses. I fell in love again with Kolkata… what a history and what a future! The bustling streets of Phnom Penh, with their vibrant markets and French colonial architecture, were equally enchanting. My love affair with Cambodia is a continuous journey of discovering the depth of this remarkable country.
Bali and Singapore: Islands of Enchantment
Bali: A Spiritual Retreat
Bali was a haven of peace and spirituality. The lush landscapes, the rhythmic sounds of the ocean, and the serene temples provided a perfect setting for reflection and rejuvenation. The Balinese culture, rich in rituals and art, was a beautiful reminder of the harmony between humans and nature. Always a great escape for me from the madding crowds!
Singapore: A Fusion of Cultures
Ending my travels in Singapore, I was once again captivated by its singular mix of cultures. WONDERFUL food (the best in the world for me!) and the city’s seamless blend of modernity and tradition. IT IS SO green – the spaces are filled with lush trees and plant life. Each visit offers new discoveries in this small yet incredibly diverse city-state.
